The week after the cabin was Cub Scout Day Camp for Stryder. He was super excited and looking forward to it for a while before. I volunteered and stayed with him for the whole 4 hours Wednesday late afternoon. The first two days, the boys got to shoot bb guns. On Wednesday, they got to shoot a bow and arrow. Stryder thought that was pretty cool. Some of the crafts for the week included a foam sword and a treasure box.
The theme was "Scouts of the Round Table" and they learned about being knights. This picture is of Stryder after the firemen showed up and hosed the boys down. There was so much water it became quite muddy and somehow my son thought it was a good idea to make 'mud angels'.
Friday, each den did a skit or song for all the parents and families of the scouts. Stryder had great leaders that week who were really patient with the boys. On Wednesday when I was there, the boys were given the chance to fence. However, if they were wet, it was a no go. Stryder of course was wet and devastated that he couldn't do it. Well on Friday they were back. A barbeque was going on for all the families, but we had other dinner plans and just rushed to get Stryder in line to fence. After 20 minutes and a couple line shifts, he finally got to put the gear on. He loved it and is begging me to get him in a fencing class. In fencing, they only hit from the waist up, so Stryder loved the fact that he could hit this other kid in the face.
